Port Hotel: A Freelancers Stay.

These photos and text are a result of a gifted stay

It’s always lovely to experience the places that I photograph. It helps me see the story and tap into the emotions evoked. I didn’t realise I needed a night away until I arrived at Port after a stunning walk from Eastbourne to the lighthouse, catching low tide and then, as I drove to the hotel, caught the Starlings by the pier.

When I went freelance over 12 years ago, I always imagined a bit more of a nomadic lifestyle which I’ve only really achieved since the clarifying 2020. Before that came guilt and a yearning to prove myself as a professional with the lack of departments or payrolls. But since I’ve stepped into a looser way or working I’ve found inspiration strikes harder and more often. In fact I would go as far to say that changing up my view is imperative to my creativity.

Port do some excellent mid week deals and being able to roll out on to the beach to catch lungfuls of fresh, sunrise air is a treat for the senses and energy.
