I’m Emma.
Storytelling through the medium of photography.
Based in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales in the East Midlands, I am a nationwide photographer offering a modern take on interiors, lifestyle and portrait photography.
I’m a lover of nature, conscious and considered living and I’m particular keen to work with people and organisations that are working to make the planet a better place.
I was first given a camera by my aunt when I was around 8. It would become my way to see the world, provide escapism and give me a form of figuring it all out. I also spent hours in my Grandad’s rambling garden, helping him grow vegetables, tending to his owl box and accompanying him on walks with binoculars to his hides he’d built around the town. This love of the outdoors and our responsibility to look after it has weaved its way through my life.
I’ve now been a freelance photographer for over 15 years creating imagery for books and magazines primariliy working with natural light. A former picture editor, I combine my editorial background with my unique style to create imagery that is peaceful and calm with an emphasis on observing the every day, recording moments that perhaps would have just slipped by unnoticed.

My Values.
-
I only work with companies who are 100% cruelty free. I have lived a cruelty free life myself for almost ten years and I firmly stand by not pursuing endorsing products that don’t hold the same values and commitment to ending animal cruelty.
-
When using models I have the right to turn down any brief if I feel it isn’t hitting inclusivity standards. The responsibility lies with us and I am passionate about giving off the correct message in visual communications.
-
I do not offer any photoshop work on people - I will remove temporary blemishes but I will not change someones body shape, ‘improve’ their permanent skin nor enhance features.
-
I research every company before working with them as to what their credentials are with human matters, inclusivity and how they are working to reduce their environmental impact. I work with good people doing good things. If I’m commissioned by a non ethical company I will only take on the project if the work will encourage positive change.

I am always looking for new ways to make my business as sustainable as possible. I use a business bank with high eco credentials, my electricity is from renewable sources, I source stationary that is recycled and from brands that are giving back and where possible I buy devices second hand. On a personal level my clothes are consciously bought, I mostly eat plant based food and I use eco friendly home and beauty products. Even Monty (my dog) is fed raw food which is a waste product of the meat industry.
