Derbyshire headshot photography.

I have been shooting portraits for over ten years for clients such as The Guardian and Penguin Random House. I offer headshots within my Wirksworth studio. The sessions are 1 hour as standard and within this time we can do 2-3 outfits. There is a beauty salon next door if you want to get your makeup and hair done on the day.

I can offer headshots for actors, comedians, coaches, nutritional therapists, self employed, artists and so much more. I shoot primarily in natural light and the sessions are fun, relaxed and organic.

My headshot offerings

  • These hour long sittings take place within my Wirksworth studio. There is a choice of backdrops including fabric, textured and a white brick wall. There are also a number of areas around the historic mill where we can shoot outdoor headshots.

These sessions include 10 images of your choice with an option to add extra images.

  • Once a month I offer headshot days where you can come and have a 20 minute sitting session for an affordable price. I include 5 images of your choice and they are a perfect solution for those that are not in need of a variety of shots and would like a professional headshot.

FAQs

How can I book?

You can book straight from my booking system or if you feel like you need a bit more guidance just drop me a line on email.

Why am I paying upfront?

As a one person business who only has so many bookable days in a month this is to protect me from loss of work. These headshot sessions are easily bookable and you pay for the sitting fee only including the number of shots included in your session. Any extra edits will be invoiced on request.

What’s your style?

My style of portraits is natural portraits taken in natural light, leaving the surrounding as organic and authentic as possible. I will use lighting if required.

What about styling/wardrobe?

This would be something that you would arrange but I am happy to advise on wardrobe on the day if you wanted to bring a selection of outfits in. You are welcome to bring a stylist to the studio with you if that is something you will need to consider for your headshots.

I’d like something a bit different to the style of photos in your portfolio, is that possible?

Every photographer is different. I specialise in offering a certain style of photography as this is the visual language and use of light that I’ve practised and crafted over a number of years. Therefore if you wanted a different style I would recommend finding a photographer with a style you connect with.

Can you travel to me?

My headshot sessions are only available in my studio (unless you want to book me for a day of mini sessions) but for on location sessions I can travel - fuel and accommodation maybe chargeable. I do travel quite a bit in my van so it is always worth trying me if you’re digging my vibe!

I am nervous about having my photo taken, help!

For many, they say I make them feel very relaxed. I am a photographer who believes that when you’re at your most relaxed, that’s when we get the best photos. I try not to give too much direction and instead encourage you to be as animated as possible. The in-between moments are often the best.

What happens after the shoot?

Within a few days I’ll send you some previews of your shoot so you can see a few images. Then within a week (if it will be any longer than this I will let you know before you book your date in) you will get a set of proofs. I shoot quite quickly and like to give you as many photos as I can to choose from, removing any clearly unusable ones where you have your eyes shut or where there are technically better options.

You choose your favourites from the shoot and I then tidy up the images in terms of colours, contrast and straightening. If you have any specific edit requests you have the options to add input.

Any removal of objects from an image or specialist retouching will be on a quotation basis. Please note I do not offer any image retouching that changes how you look on a permanent basis - while I can removes temporary pimples I won’t change the shape or your face or remove permanent features due to ethics around body image.

Any other questions?

I know that booking a portrait shoot might be nerve-racking. I’m here if you have any further questions.
