Modern still life photography.
I offer still life photography in my Derbyshire studio. My humble space has the most gorgeous corner with beautiful light where I shoot my still life work. You can send me your products to photograph and together we’ll work out a beautiful aesthetic for your brand. I shoot mainly with natural light for a romantic and organic feel but do have the helping hand of some lighting if needed.
How many shots we can fit into your shoot will depend on the level of styling for each shot but once we get going we can move pretty fast. Perfect for artists, shop owners and anyone selling products that need beautiful shots of their wares for websites. Please check the FAQ’s below to learn more about what I offer and how we can work together.
Who is still life photography for?
-
If you create physical artwork like ceramics or sculptures I can create simple and beautiful imagery to make your work really shine.
-
If you own a physical shop or online commerce site I can offer stylised images of your product for each individual product page. We can shoot in a very simple manner or add props, textures and shadows. We can work together to set the style.
-
If you need someone to take your product shots out of your hands on a regular basis I can create a uniform style for you and offer monthly or bi monthly sessions.
3 steps to your bespoke photography.
-
Send it.
You can send me your products for photography. I usually work to a 3-4 week lead time so do get it booked as soon as you know your products are coming in. You can send the products via courier or drop off yourself to my studio in Wirksworth, Derbyshire.
-
Set an aesthetic.
Using mood boarding, together we work out a uniform style for your photography including backdrop colour and texture and a lighting style. We will also set what surface we are shooting your products on and what props we’ll be using for your shots.
-
Shoot it
On your allocated day I’ll send over 3 or 4 test shots for you to sign off and then I’ll crack on. If you wanted to be here for shoot day that’s absolutely fine, I’ll get the kettle on and the tunes going! I’ll pack up all your products ready for collection.

FAQs
How many products will a half day session produce?
This can depend on the level of styling and if we’re switching the props out. If we are shooting similar size products we can expect to get at least 6 photographed each half an hour so it would equate to about 30-40 products. But if props are being changed over and more styling is required this would take longer per shot.
Do you provide cut out files?
The organic way I shoot means that lines and edges are softer so the photos I produce don’t lend themselves to standard cut outs. But if you need the odd one from your shoot we can arrange at £5 extra per image. If cut out shots are your requirements I recommend a studio who works with controlled lighting and can do the cut outs in house such as Capture Factory.
I have a product I’ll need labels superimposed on to - can you do that?
I’d be happy to shoot the product and can provide details of retouchers I work with who can provide you a quote for this work.
I’d like something a bit different to the style of photos in your portfolio, is that possible?
Every photographer is different. I specialise in offering a certain style of photography as this is the visual language and use of light that I’ve practised and crafted over a number of years. Therefore if you wanted a different style I would recommend finding a photographer with a style you connect with.
Can you travel to me?
I do offer lifestyle shoots on location but for product still life I am all set up in my studio space for ease and continuity. This keeps your costs down because of travel and workflow. You can easily post your products to me or come to the studio.
Can I sign off as you shoot?
Absolutely, I can export preview jpgs to a Dropbox folder as I shoot. You’d just need to be available on the day to regularly check the files so you’re not losing session time and we are maximising the time.
